The feat that I live for

Posted by Suman on Feb 22, 2021

Unserious athletes.

There is no end.

No matter the sport.

Even at the very high level,

only unserious athletes are to be found.

And though one of them may luck out reigning a sport for decades,

becoming one of the celebrated faces for the sport,

their own life experience ends up being mostly a

mix of pains, struggle, and excitement.

But overall, discontentment.

"Life of an athlete" is a blatant excuse

to continue to be unserious about one's sport and life.

Just because you are a professional athlete

does not give you the license to jump from one injury to the next

as you throw money and people at band-aiding them.

Yes.

Unseriousness is really the culture out there.

In any and all sports.

What is this "unseriousness" that I keep using?

Who or What is serious then?

Only if there was an easy way to just...

tell you.

I could write an entire book, perhaps a series,

delving into the night-and-day between these two exhibitions of athleticism.

For the sake of brevity, I will limit it to just an example.

I will use just one aspect via which

an athlete rides the unserious wagon not only for all his career,

but for all his life.

And that is,

his take on his body.

Even the cream of the crop,

be it the grand-slam winner or the world-record holder or even the deemed-legend,

leaves things to his coach or therapist.

As time progresses, his coach and therapist change.

As his career progresses, his coach becomes an entire team of coaches.

And his therapist is replaced by a team as well.

However,

until the very end of his career,

independent of the many or barely any accolades amassed

he remains unserious.

He never becomes serious.

Because he does not become

serious about the most serious aspect of his life,

he squanders away all other aspects.

On the other hand...

The serious athlete takes it

on himself.

He goes beyond the many tricks, techniques,

coaches, therapy, and "help".

The texts below are to act as a guide for one such

rare athlete.

As an athlete

you may have received the following two pieces of advice...

Learn about the body.

Take care of the body.

You may have been told that

learning about and taking care of the body

is paramount if one wants top performance in their sport.

And I will nod. It will indeed take you somewhere.

Perhaps you already were there.

But were not satisfied.

So you sought out high-end professionals.

The manner these professionals' banners were written

it appeared that they have realized something that you long to.

After buying their program or seminar,

you finally realized the higher realm that was evading you ...

It is...

Understanding the body.

Indeed.

You can learn and learn, but if you do not understand

how your body functions for your sport,

you will be akin to the physiotherapist who just "knows" a boatload without

any visceral experience.

But who am I speaking to, because you have been there and done that.

You were still not content.

Something was amiss.

You kept seeking.

You had the money.

You had the resources.

And most of all, the desire to get to the root.

You went the farthest than anyone has

to extract out the last drop of performance hidden in your body.

You found one obscure practitioner.

With a thick Asian accent,

he told you two things...

Know the body.

Know yourself.

"Of course!",

it has been coming on to you since then.

"My sport" and "My body" are still external concepts.

Going beyond them, allows you to know the entity

that exhibits what those two concepts show only glimpses of.

Add to that the elephant-in-the-room that you did not see.

And that is the fact that your self is a puzzle of its own!

How can a puzzle solve a problem while still

remaining a puzzle in itself?

Since that day

you feel like all of your curiousity

has reached its end.

You have realized that knowing and understanding

the body is futile,

if you completely ignore the self which is

trying to know and understand in the first place!

Since that day,

your itch to refer to professionals, no matter how high-end and worshipped,

has subsided.

Since that day,

you have been on the path to "knowing your Body"

and "knowing your self"

as you continue to approach mastery...

But...

But...

But...

But...

you are still not where you think you should be.

It has still been a journey.

The destination has yet to be reached.

How can I say that with certainty?

Because you are still here reading these words.

Because I know exactly what you seek.

And,

Because I will tell you,

there is more.

Knowing the body is fine.

Knowing your self is fine.

Has anyone

told you

of this FAR SUPERIOR

way...?

BE

(the Mind fully through the Body)

I am certain NO ONE has.

Because I am yet to meet or know of anyone in the present times

who has achieved this feat.

I will not lie to you

and say that I can show you how.

I will not lie and

tell you that I have achieved it.

I will only tell you the truth...

This feat

is what I have devoted my life to.

This feat is what I live for.

This feat will live through me

one way or the other.

Thank you.
