When a man does not know what he wants,
and he is surrounded by others like him,
he gets further away from knowing what he wants.
Because he gets inundated with what he thinks he wants.
After all,
what sets a legend apart from an athlete is
one and the only thing ...
Wanting (to be a Legend).
Wanting as if his life depends on it.
Almost all athletes have it the other way around.
No wonder, they spend their entire career in angst and conflict.
They have no clue about what they want in life.
How will they ever surface as a legend?
But the problem is not just them.
The problem is all around them.
How will a legend surface,
when the moment one begins to get serious
about Weightlifting, they get pulled into unserious
avenues by the many "athletes" around them,
with their "coaches" steadfastly
holding on to their leashes?
Yes...
Weightlifting "coaches" are increasing in number.
Those who pride themselves in wearing a shirt that says
"ATHLETE"
are as well.
Because weightlifting itself is gaining popularity.
Not just as a sport, but also as a practice to
truly train for strength and peak power output for any other sport.
Many will say that this "mutual sharing" amongst
sports and practices is "natural".
These are the same people,
who instead of devoting to the art of Weightlifting,
will busy themselves consoling that
all things sport and athleticism
have modernized and changed completely
to bother with antique concepts of art or devotion.
Well, on the surface, this cannot be denied.
But deep down, this is just another lie.
Because deep down, nothing has changed.
The times of today are no different
than those of yesterday...
Athletes are
stuck as atheltes.
Legends are being legends.
Nothing will stop the latter.
No force on the planet will assist
the former in magically becoming legends.
Modernization, technology, sport-communities,
research, studies, researching studies,
or studying researches...
no matter the assistance
man has latched on to,
it did not
make him a legend.
At best, it provided for him
in staying content as who he thinks he is.
At worst, it distracted the budding-legends
who perished living a sheepish existence.
Thanks to this thing called "Covid-19",
the approaches of technique, analysis, teaching,
methodologies and "help" in any other way,
are being relied upon more and more.
They will be relied upon even more.
They will only sophisticate.
They will only provide the
license for more
distraction.
Because once again,
thanks to this thing called "Covid-19",
"athletes" have one more reason to stay as themselves,
so that they can do what they have done,
so that they can do what they must do,
to maintain their sanity,
and thus, their
unseriousness.
So I will ask you this ...
Amidst this craziness for mediocrity,
and comfort with "What has been and what will be",
How will a Legend surface?
Thank you.
